Uncovering an Identity through design
Have you ever wondered why we are emotionally connected to inanimate objects? Designers spend their lives creating objects that intuit desire in customers, turning otherwise lifeless objects into things we want to spend our days with. Cars are sometimes referred to as “Cathedrals of Product Design” and as a designer, I embarked on a study to uncover what this looks like. Step into my adventure, which I’ve called the Cadillac Glasses Project, a thesis study I started during my time at Columbia College Chicago. This effort is ongoing, and here are the first two installments.
Cadillac Glasses Part Two:
My journey began with picking up the camera and studying what was around me. Next, I began to translate what my eye saw into a physical product. Here, I explain the efforts of designing and building a Cadillac inspired piece of furniture.
Film Studies
I ventured into documentary studies during my time at Columbia, and began a small series of short documentaries about Cadillac owners, as well as experimented with a few cinematic studies to learn how the camera could be used as a tool to share what a designer sees.
